Gustaf Axelsson Baner bids farewell to his family before he is beheaded in Linköping Square. On 20 March 1600, a public execution took place with the beheading of five Swedish senators in the aftermath of the War against Sigismund (1598–1599). It is known as the Linköping Bloodbath.
