In 2007, Navy SEAL Sr. Chief Mike Day was shot 27 times, with 11 hitting his body armor and 16 penetrating his body. He managed to kill two of the insurgents and managed to walk himself to a medical helicopter. He spent only 16 days in hospital before being discharged and awarded the Purple Heart.
