In Monty Pythons Holy Grail (1975) it was the films producer dressed as King Arthur walking across the bridge of death. This was because Graham Chapman was experiencing alcohol withdrawals before he crossed the bridge. He was shaking so bad everyone thought he was just terrified to cross it.
