The first documented shark attack in the Americas occurred between 789 –1033 AD. The victim, known as “Burial # 17,“ was a 29-year-old fisherman who bled to death. Based on the teeth markings left on the skeletal remains, it was determined that a Tiger shark was responsible for the attack.
